One of the types of religious narratives — the conversion narrative — is analyzed in the article using interviews with Pentecostal Christians. Following U. Labos concepts, the authors consider its main structural components: «introductory part», «orientation», «assessment», «solution», «complicating circumstances» and «code». For the conversion narratives of Pentecostals, a characteristic feature is the repetition of the stages «orientation», «evaluation» and «solution». The narrative ends with a statement of the current state of affairs, the narrator's status in the community, and the results of his development in spiritual and material terms. A similar circular structure emphasizes the importance of turning to God for a believer and allows you to compare the life of a person before and after conversion again and again. The authors elaborate in detail the central category of the conversion narrative («crisis») and the perception of time by believers, which are reflected in their stories about conversion; analyse how the narratives reconstruct the reasons for conversion and conversion rituals; they emphasize the role of the listener and the narrator in the creation of the narrative, noting that the content and functions of the narrative will depend on whether the listener is a believer; and if the listener believes in God, then — what status in the community the person occupies. The article concludes that the construction of a new individual and collective religious identity of the narrator occurs every time in the narrative.
