This article examines the contextualization of theology as an ethical and hermeneutical response to the cultural, religious, and axiological crises of the contemporary world, with a focus on evangelism and Christian mission. Starting from conceptual distinctions regarding contextual theology, evangelism, and mission, this study highlights both the potential of contextualization to facilitate a relevant Christian witness in pluralistic and globalized contexts as well as the risks associated with excessive adoption, such as the relativization of truth, religious syncretism, and undermining the authority of Scripture. In this framework, contextualization is interpreted not merely as a missiological strategy, but as an act of ethical and hermeneutical responsibility which demands theological discernment and doctrinal fidelity in the face of cultural pressures. This article argues that the benefits of contextualization become real only when it is anchored in a hermeneutic of responsibility, capable of maintaining the tension between cultural relevance and the integrity of the Gospel message. In the absence of this balance, contextualization risks amplifying the crisis of Christian identity and transforming the Gospel into an adaptive discourse devoid of its prophetic and soteriological dimensions.
