The article explores the concept of diakonia as a key form of the realization of Protestant ethics of service and the Church’s social vocation, based on the teachings and practical activities of Theodor Zöckler (1867–1949) in Central and Eastern Europe. It analyzes the theological and ethical foundations of his approach to serving others, the interrelation of faith and social action, as well as the significance of educational and caregiving activities within the Protestant tradition of Galicia. Zöckler’s diakonia is shown to represent a synthesis of spirituality, moral responsibility, and practical community work, forming a model of socially responsible Christian service. The study highlights the relevance of his ideas for contemporary religious studies, social pedagogy, and public theology.
